Without money we won't have a great program, if each of you will print out one copy of the donation packet and send it to a business then we have a greater chance of recieving more donations! Not too hard. I would like to see all state officers, senators, governors and local chapter presidents lead the members in this task - All it costs you is the little bit of ink and a stamp, or some companies you can email it too. Once you do this let me know which buisness - so when they contact me to donate I can give credit to you!
Or if your local chapter wants to run a fundraiser to help support the program please let me know. Carol Perry (from my chapter) did a great job with the raffle last year - so you can contact her and she can give you ideas too!
Also I'd like to get an idea of how many chapters are participating in the program. And I need judges, I'd like to get them soon so we can train and go over things before the convention!!
Thanks for everyone's participation and support of this great program!

Facebook Event page
If you haven't checked it out yet go to
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=79519394
there you can rsvp to the event and you can also invite your friends on facebook to the event. A great way to publicize the event to any one on facebook! it's open to anyone and on there is a link to the registration form for the convention as well! If anyone has pictures to add to the events page you can do so, Pam Warren of Batavia already did (thanks).
Please contact me if you still need information for OYNY, or if you have any other questions.
Also we need to get on top of the fundraising: I will be coming up with a prize/award for the chapter that raises the most money for the event!!! So if you raise any money for it please let me know!

OYNY 2008 Introduction & First Steps
It's time to recognize outstanding high school seniors across New York State, and as program manager for 2008, I will provide each of you with everything you need to submit a candidate to be recognized.
My name is Patricia Benda, and I am an active member of the Johnson City Junior Chamber. I currently work at the YMCA in my community in the Aquatics Department, where I plan, train and teach swim lessons and other aquatics programs. I graduated Binghamton University in 2003 with a BA in French, and plan to become certified to translate.
I have decided to take on the OYNY program this year because I have a passion to ensure we provide the youth of our communities with every opportunity we can to allow them to be successful, as they are our future. These young people should be recognized for all their achievements and their work in their communities. I think this is also a great project for us, the NYS Junior Chamber, to get our name out there to show who we are and what we do.
I have posted information on the NYS Jaycees yahoo group, and I can email out more information to anyone who would like it - just send me your email address.
I also plan to post the steps that I have taken, and will take along the way in order to make this project run successfully - so one of you can be the program manager next year!
Please contact me at jcjaycees07@yahoo.com for more information on how to submit a candidate or how to make a donation to the program.
